Travel through the surrounding ranch country enroute to the splendour of the Alberta mountain ranges. Three days in Banff filled with dramatic sightseeing tours to incredible, iconic locations are capped off with a magical rail passage through the Rockies on Rocky Mountaineer, arriving into the coastal cosmopolitan paradise of Vancouver.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Calgary

Arrive at Calgary’s International airport and independently proceed to your downtown hotel for your overnight stay. If time permits, explore the area around your hotel, perhaps visiting one of the local restaurants or pubs. Overnight in Calgary

Day 2: Calgary to Banff

Depart Calgary today on your scheduled transfer to Banff. Traverse the grasslands of the Kananaskis region at the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills before arriving in Banff to check into your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to explore this iconic Canadian destination. Overnight in Banff.

Day 3: Banff / Columbia Icefield Excursion

Depart on your full-day sightseeing journey to the incredible Columbia Icefield along the famous Icefields Parkway. The huge Columbia Glacier covers nearly 325-km2 and dominates the surrounding landscape. An Ice Explorer ride will take you onto the ancient Athabasca Glacier, followed up by a walk on the Glacier SkyWalk – a glass-floored platform extending 30m out over the Sunwapta Canyon. Return to Banff late in the afternoon. Overnight in Banff.

Day 4: Banff / Lake Louise & Moraine Lake Excursion

Embark on your half-day sightseeing tour of unforgettable Louise and the worldrenowned Moraine Lake, both recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Explore the shoreline at Lake Louise and marvel at the views of the Victoria Glacier and the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel, and Moraine Lake in the beautiful Valley Of The Ten Peaks. Take a short walk up the Rockpile where you’ll find the iconic view of one of the most photographed vistas in the world. Return to Banff for the remainder of the day. Overnight in Banff.

Day 5: Rocky Mountaineer Banff to Kamloops

After your shuttle transfer to the Banff train station (provided by Rocky Mountaineer),
board the Rocky Mountaineer train for a spectacular rail excursion from Banff to Kamloops. This unique daylight service allows you to view some of the most spectacular sights in Western Canada. The route departs the Rocky Mountains through the Kicking Horse Pass. By late afternoon, you are in the arid ranch land of interior British Columbia, where you disembark for the night. Upon arrival in Kamloops, the evening is at your leisure. Overnight in Kamloops. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 6: Rocky Mountaineer Kamloops to Vancouver

You will set out on the last leg of your spectacular rail experience today. The Rocky
Mountaineer takes you through the “cowboy country” ranchlands and along the rushing torrents of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers. You are now truly in pioneer territory with an option to listen to the history and legends of the West while enjoying all the comforts of your luxury train. The last stretch takes you through lush farmlands and past historic towns to Vancouver where you are transferred from the rail station to your hotel. Overnight in Vancouver. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 7: Victoria Excursion

This full-day trip to Victoria begins with a cruise through the scenic Gulf Islands and includes a visit to the acclaimed Butchart Gardens. Afterwards continue to Victoria for a city sightseeing tour that encompasses Victoria’s stately homes and gardens as well as historic landmarks. You will see the University of Victoria and Beacon Hill Park and pass the Royal British Columbia Museum, Thunderbird Park, the Parliament Buildings and the exclusive homes of the Uplands and Oak Bay. You will return to Vancouver in the early evening. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 8: End of Tour

Individually transfer to Vancouver International Airport in time to check in for your return
flight. Alternatively, speak with your Discover North America Travel Specialist about possible trip extensions.
