Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Cleveland

Welcome to Cleveland, Ohio – a vibrant city on the shores of Lake Erie that blends culture, creativity, and Midwestern charm. Upon arrival at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, transfer independently to your centrally located hotel and enjoy your first evening at leisure. Depending on your arrival time, take a gentle stroll along the revitalised Cleveland Flats or enjoy dinner at one of the city’s celebrated restaurants, where lakefront views and warm hospitality set the tone for the days ahead.

Day 2: Exploring Downtown & the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Begin your Cleveland adventure in the city’s cultural heart. Visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, one of America’s most iconic museums, where the stories and sounds of musical legends come to life through interactive exhibits and rare memorabilia. After lunch, explore the nearby Great Lakes Science Center or take a lakeside walk along Voinovich Bicentennial Park for panoramic views of Lake Erie. In the evening, experience Cleveland’s thriving food scene with dinner in the Warehouse District or East 4th Street, both lively areas filled with restaurants, bars, and live entertainment.

Day 3: Arts, Gardens, and Neighbourhood Charm

Today, discover Cleveland’s rich cultural side in University Circle, home to the world-renowned Cleveland Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), and the serene Cleveland Botanical Garden. This compact area offers a perfect mix of world-class art, green spaces, and café culture. In the afternoon, venture to Ohio City, a neighbourhood known for its vintage shops and craft breweries. Be sure to visit the West Side Market, Cleveland’s historic food hall, where local flavours and global influences meet. Depending on the season, end your day at a sporting event – whether it’s the Cleveland Guardians (baseball), Cavaliers (basketball), or Browns (American football) – for an authentic slice of local life.

Day 4: Cleveland to Columbus

After breakfast, collect your rental car and make your way south to Columbus, Ohio’s vibrant capital city (approximately a two-hour drive). Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend the afternoon exploring the Short North Arts District, a lively neighbourhood known for its street art, boutique shopping, and farm-to-table dining. In the evening, enjoy a relaxed dinner in the Arena District, where live music venues and riverside bars create a fun, energetic atmosphere.

Day 5: Culture, Parks, and Local Flavour

Begin your day with a visit to the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), one of the nation’s leading science museums, where interactive exhibits and live demonstrations make learning fun for all ages. Then head to the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, where lush glasshouse exhibits and seasonal displays offer a tranquil escape. In the afternoon, stroll through German Village, one of Columbus’s most charming historic districts, known for its red-brick streets, independent bookshops, and bakeries. Dinner tonight could be in this picturesque neighbourhood, where local favourites serve hearty Midwest cuisine in beautifully restored buildings.

Day 6: Outdoor Adventures & Family Fun

Columbus offers a wealth of outdoor and family-friendly experiences. Spend the morning exploring the Scioto Mile, a riverfront park network featuring walking trails, fountains, and public art. For families, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium – one of the top-ranked zoos in the U.S. – is a must-visit, offering engaging exhibits and close encounters with wildlife from around the world. Alternatively, active travellers might enjoy cycling one of the city’s scenic trails or exploring Topiary Park, where art and nature blend beautifully.

Day 7: Columbus to Cincinnati

Depart Columbus this morning and journey southwest to Cincinnati, a city that combines historic charm with modern sophistication. Upon arrival, return your hire vehicle before checking into your hotel and settling in. Once you’re ready to explore, head to Over-the-Rhine, one of the city’s most atmospheric districts, filled with 19th-century architecture, breweries, and creative energy. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before taking an evening stroll along The Banks, Cincinnati’s lively riverfront entertainment area, which offers stunning night views of the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge.

Day 8: Culture and Culinary Delights

Start your day with a visit to the Cincinnati Art Museum or Contemporary Arts Center, both showcasing impressive collections in beautifully designed spaces. Continue to Findlay Market, Ohio’s oldest continuously operated public market, where you can sample artisan food, coffee, and local produce. In the afternoon, cross the river into Kentucky for a visit to the Newport Aquarium, a family favourite featuring incredible marine exhibits. Return to Cincinnati for dinner at one of the city’s renowned restaurants or breweries — perhaps trying the local favourite, Cincinnati-style chili.

Day 9: Parks, Views, and Local Neighbourhoods

On your final full day, explore the city’s green side at Eden Park, home to the Krohn Conservatory and spectacular views over the Ohio River. For a different perspective, take a ride on the Cincinnati Bell Connector, a modern streetcar that links many of the city’s attractions. If you’re visiting during baseball or American football season, this is the perfect time to catch a Cincinnati Reds or Bengals game and join the locals in cheering on their teams. End your trip with a sunset drink overlooking the river, celebrating your journey through Ohio’s most dynamic cities.

Day 10: Departure or Extend Your Adventure

After breakfast, your Ohio adventure comes to an end. Transfer to the airport for your return flight home, or speak with your Discover North America Travel Specialist about extending your journey. Many travellers choose to continue south into Kentucky, where bourbon trails, horse country, and bluegrass charm await.
