If arriving before 12:00, enjoy lunch with your hosts. Begin your safari with an Orientation, Bear Presentation and late afternoon drift on the Atnarko River, meandering between massive, snowcapped peaks, to look for grizzly bears. Relax and enjoy the scenery, and watch for wildlife such as river otters and black bears. You may also see bald eagles and grizzly bears, dining on the river’s salmon. Lunch and dinner included. Overnight at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge.

Day 2: Tweedsmuir Park Lodge

3-night and 5-night itineraries: -

The day starts early with a walk to the Wildlife Viewing Stations reserved for the exclusive use of Tweedsmuir Park Lodge guests. Early morning is a great time to spot bears and the raised structures provide open lines of sight along the river. After checking out the platforms you have a choice of a hot or continental breakfast, then it’s time to head out for a guided nature walk in the old growth forests of Tweedsmuir Park, the largest provincial park in British Columbia. Your naturalist guide will show you how to track bears, and will point out various bear signs, including rub trees and places the bears dig out in the forest floor for naps. A picnic lunch will be served in the field. In the afternoon, continue exploring Tweedsmuir Park with a drive on Tote Road past old, abandoned homesteads brimming with character. At the end of the road is a short, highly recommended hike to pristine Stillwater Lake. Arrive back at the lodge in the late afternoon for hors d’oeuvres on the sun deck of the lodge, exchanging stories of wildlife seen with your fellow guests. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
