You begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Chicago. The "Windy City" lies along the shores of Lake Michigan and is known for its vibrant arts scene, numerous cultural attractions, excellent shopping, and interesting architecture. In the early 20th century, Chicago gave birth to a distinctive Blues sound, and you can hear the heirs of major artists like Buddy Guy and BB King at venues like the House of Blues. Jazz is another speciality, and fans should catch a show at the Green Mill, which was once owned by an associate of the infamous American gangster, Al Capone.
Spend your final few hours sightseeing in Chicago before boarding the overnight City of New Orleans Amtrak service to Memphis, Tennessee. You’ll enjoy a full board, private roomette experience as you travel overnight.
Memphis has a magic that few other American cities possess, and it’s all about the way this Tennessee city plays on your senses. There’s the intoxicating smell of barbecue cooking, the dazzling sight of gold ornaments, the architecture of mansions like Graceland, and the sound of rhythm and blues on Beale Street all night long.
