How the Queen Mary 2 was Remastered

Cunard’s flagship – the only oceanliner in service – as had a distinguished career already. Launched in 2004, she has welcome royalty, former presidents and some of the greatest names in modern history on board.

While Queen Mary 2 is the most modern ship, she has many nods to her past. her distinctive whistle was originally used on Queen Mary and she carries the Boston Cup, the trophy presented to Sir Samuel Cunard on his first crossing.

After years of planning and exhaustive research, Queen Mary 2 enters a 25-day refit on May 27 in Hamburg. The changes planned for her are extensive.
Single staterooms
Every Queens Grill and Princess Grill Suite will be refreshed and enhanced
Carinthia Lounge will be added, bringing fresh coffee, patisserie and light dishes
The highly acclaimed Verandah Restaurant is also coming, offering the opportunity to enjoy fine French cuisine
King Court will be redesigned to offer a more relaxed experience and wider selection of food
The kennel capacity will double

The Queen Mary will continue to cross the Atlantic between Southampton and New York, a journey she is designed specifically to make.
